1 month in pc

It is absolutely and completely hard to believe that I arrived here in Park City, Utah 4 weeks ago today. To me, 1 month has flown by in the blink of an eye. To my parents back home, it has felt like an eternity (lol). In all honesty, some mornings I still wake up and think, “Holy sh*t I’m in freakin’ Utah!” I’ve done a lot of “ballsy” things in my life, but coming out here definitely makes the top of the list.

I’ve heard from so many people since I’ve been here—all wondering WTF I’m doing. Truthfully, I’m following a dream, my ski bum dream. It’s been a heck of an adventure, no doubt. Driving 2,000+ miles away from the only life I have ever known has made me stronger than I ever thought I could possibly be. Many say I’m “living the dream,” which to some extent is true. However, they don’t take into account that although where I’m living and what I’m doing is cool, it’s most certainly not as fun without your family and friends. It’s true what they say, nothing good in life comes without sacrifice.

All in all, week 4 and month 1 has been a success. I like to acquaint my journey to a quote from Eat, Pray, Love I saw the other day:

"If you are brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting (which can be anything from your house to your bitter old resentments) and set out on a truth-seeking journey (either externally or internally), and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher, and if you are prepared – most of all – to face (and forgive) some very difficult realities about yourself... then truth will not be withheld from you."

1 month down, 5 to go…

Keep on keepin’ on—
XX, Laura
